Weave a Mini Basket for Beginners
About this Event
Taking inspiration from her native Senegal where basket-weaving is a craft passed down from generation to generation in rural villages, join Tabara N’Diaye of La Basketry on this interactive workshop via Zoom where you will learn how to weave a beautiful mini-basket using the coiling technique achieved by wrapping raffia paper with a needle around the core material – a bundle of seagrass.
This class is open to beginners and available with materials or without materials :
£50 with materials / £40 without materials
With materials (UK only)
You will receive enough materials to make a mini-basket – materials are sent a week before the workshop (except a pair of scissors and measuring tape/ruler that you will have to provide) – for any bookings after 5th of October we won’t be able to ship materials to you

Tabara N’Diaye is the author of ‘Baskets’ a craft book released in May 2019 demystifying the art of basket-making for makers at all levels with projects ranging from coasters to basket bags.
She is also the founder of La Basketry, a lifestyle brand offering baskets and home accessories designed in collaboration with a group of female artisans in Senegal, West Africa.
