Chiyogami is Washi paper that has been hand stenciled or printed with traditional Japanese imagery using bright colors and patterns, often incorporating gold or silver elements. Appearing during the Edo period, Chiyogami was traditionally used to craft paper object especially dolls.

Amber will take you through each stage, from covering your hardback covers with a selection of gorgeous handmade Japanese papers, to creating the spine with bookcloth, and stitching your book together. She will also teach you about materials, terminology and tools, so that you can fully explore the world of bookbinding should you wish to build on what you've learnt after the class.
